I believed my first loves (I’m using the plural in order to propagate an image of being one of the “popular” girls) were indelibly etched in my heart. The experiences we shared together, and even how we separated, stay with me in a positive and healthy way and helped form the person I am today. […]
There’s an incredibly adorable children’s book called “A Unicorn Named Sparkle” by Amy Young, available in both hardback picture book and slightly abridged board book. Lucy (you’ll love that the little girl is named Lucy) sends away for a unicorn only to have delivered a goat with a small horn. She names him Sparkle. He’s a very goaty goat, getting into all kinds of trouble and making Lucy very mad until she calls the delivery man to take Sparkle back – he just isn’t what she expected. So he does and as he drives away, Lucy realizes that Sparkle isn’t at all what she wanted but is exactly the pet she needs. And she loves him. Will she be able to get Sparkle back? I can’t tell you everything, you’ll have to read the book to find out. Maybe a 5-minute read if you spend a long time gazing at the charming pictures.
