“People reflect each other constantly,
but when they dance, perhaps what they reflect most is that moment of honesty.”

Shake, rattle ‘n roll, Internationally by Peggy
“In 1982 the Dance Committee of ITI founded International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on the 29th April, the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), creator of modern ballet. The intention of the International Dance Day Message is to celebrate dance, revel in the universality of this art form, cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers, and bring people together with a common language – dance.”

I do love these surprise musical events in shopping centres. You see stressed and harried faces relax, showing wonder and then excitement.
Getting so many business people shoppers and all age groups to participate.
Beautifully done.

Miriam 510,
I’ve only seen the flash mobs on video – I would imagine experiencing it in person is great. The planning that must go into it seems staggering to me.

We didn’t know it existed either. I think it’s fabulous . . . especially for those of us with 3 left feet.

I’ll take a spring-y step or two today to commemorate this. Truly sad that schools have cut back on arts curriculum and funding over the past years, would hope this trend will change when millenials start raising families and understand the benefit of exposure past the 3 “R’s”.
